MORNING STAR CHURCH

Foundation Stone laid by Archbishop Anil J T Couto, on 17 January 2019. In the presence of the architect, builders, priests and religious of Najafgarh. The work started from April 23, 2019.

It was the idea of Archbishop Anil to have an adoration chapel ISH Vatika, as it is a place designed for spiritual nourishment for persons seeking solitude. To spent quality time to experience God in and around Ish Vatika, adoration chapel is an important part. And it was imperative that such center should have its essence from the adoration chapel.

Then we started thinking and planning for a befitting design to house the Eucharistic Lord. Then the idea of making a star shaped chapel came up. In the beginning, it was a just a star shaped chapel, but upon making

an effort to create something unique for the Lord, we decided to create the Five dimensional Star. Architect Mr. Ranjith John was very keen to create such a unique structure with the assistance from his team, especially Mr. Joel P John Thus we finalized the design of the adoration chapel to be a FIVE DIMENSIONAL STAR. Indeed it was a herculean task to translate the digital images to a reality, using, mostly, mild steel. JJ Infratech, who have made their impact on steel fabrication fields, under took the task of erecting steel structure. Ark Infratech, under the leadership of Mr.
Abraham Mathew, took charge of the entire execution of the project.

The Floor Works

The civil work began and erected five concrete pedestals on which the entire structure was to be seated. The foundation in a pentagon shape was created. By july 31, 2019 the foundation was ready for the erection of the steel columns to be erected each of them about 52 feet long.

The Beginning

August 07, 2019 the first two 52 feet long steel columns were placed on the foundation. There were two cranes and a boom lift to help with the erection. By 09, august 2019, the columns had to be diagonally cut at both ends to create the shape of a cone. So a finally a pentagon cone of five steel pillars were erected. Holding them together at the top is an- other thick pentagon shaped steel sheet.

Roofing

Though it was decided to create the structure more eco friendly way using minimum of bricks and concrete. Initially it was decided to cover the structure using puff panels and then give a finishing touch with the asphalt shingles, but we had to give into the experience and expertise of our architect, who wished to have the structure covered partially with msteel ducting sheet over which a thin layer of concrete can be applied as it had almost twenty-five corners to be covered.

Shingles Roofing

The top portion of the structure is covered with steel ducting sheet over which a thin layer of concrete is laid. The finishing layer of the complete structure is with roofing asphalt shingles.
The Shingles are made in Lithuania and imported through Technonicole Pvt Ltd. The complicated fish scale brownish red tiles have been selected to give natural dynamic feel to the structure.

Glass Windows

The five giant glass windows have been designed to give a rising sun effect and which would bring natural lighting to the inner chambers of the chapel. Created by, Star aluminium works. A mild red false ceiling is added to cover the outer side of the inner concentric hands of the star.

The Holy Spirit

The drop light at the 52 feet in the middle, of the inner chamber of the pentagon cone, is glazed with the descending Holy Spirit, is replicated from the St. Peters Basilica, Rome.

Extension of the Roof

The extension of colures of red, yellow, and orange descending from the Holy Spirit is panted over the gypsum board false ceiling.

Sanctury

The altar is designed; keeping in mind the stars what adoms the crown Lady and the 12 Apostles
12 tibes of Israel. The mb n the middle represene resurrected Lord. Be w which the doncentric sta shaped Labemacle in ch the dis Bucharistic ådored.

The Top of the church is the four dimensional Stainless steel, 14 feet long and 8 feet wide cross, inspired by the Star of India at the Jaipur column at the Rastrapathi bhawan.
